Join Europe’s leading healthcare innovators, hospitals, researchers, policymakers, and technology partners at the Hospitals on FHIR (HoF) Pisa User Days 2026 on 19-21 October 2026. Hosted by the Monasterio Foundation, an EHTEL member, this flagship event will focus on the real-world implementation of HL7 FHIR and the future of interoperable digital healthcare across Europe.
The Pisa User Days will bring together experts and implementers to address the next generation of healthcare interoperability, AI, cybersecurity, and clinical innovation. It offers a unique opportunity to connect with hospital CIOs, CMIOs, IT leaders, clinicians, researchers, and industry innovators shaping the future of European digital health.
Two other events/activities takes place in the same context, organised by XiA and i2X.
XiA Educathon will take place during the Hospitals on FHIR User Days from 20-21 October 2026.The educathon format is central to the spirit of XiA (Europe’s Xpanding Innovative Alliance). The XiA educathon creates a space where participants can work on interoperability-related learning challenges, explore practical scenarios, test ideas, and connect education with implementation.

20 October – i2Xathon Implementation Exchange & Setup
The first day will focus on implementation exchange, technical discussions, and environment setup, giving partners the opportunity to share experiences, prepare their systems, and ensure everything is ready for testing.
21 October – i2Xathon Testing Day
The second day is dedicated to the i2Xathon—a full day of collaborative testing across the five EEHRxF priority categories:
- Patient Summary
- ePrescription
- Laboratory Results
- Discharge Reports
- Medical Imaging
Partners will validate and exchange FHIR-based health data, perform end-to-end interoperability testing, and gather valuable implementation insights. Whether a site demonstrates a complete workflow or validates a smaller implementation milestone, every contribution helps strengthen the collective effort towards interoperable digital health across Europe.
In parallel, i2X will also host HoF Session 11 – "i2X and FHIR: EEHRxF IG Adoptions, Challenges and the i2Xathon", where project partners will share their experiences, challenges, and progress with the wider FHIR community—creating an important bridge between implementation, collaboration, and knowledge sharing.
More information will be shared soon.
