XiA’s launches its first open learning session on cybersecurity

On 22 January 2026, the XiA project launched its first open learning session.

Three guest speakers described what several European projects are doing when working on cybersecurity. Example projects include CYLCOMED, SECURED, and xShare.

Evangelos Markatos  – who spoke at the European Digital Health Summit – shared further insights on current cybersecurity threats from the perspective of the xShare project.

Defending patient safety: cybersecurity as a tool

The security of health data is critical for us all, but particularly patients. Many challenges to healthcare data are already here today, including in relation to electronic health records (EHRs).

Cybersecurity was the core topic of one the break-out sessions at the European Digital Health Summit, held in at the Casa de América, Madrid, on 1-2 December 2025. It fitted well with the conference’s overall focus on digital health innovation across Europe and Latin America.

A WHO initiative: EHTEL aims to make significant contributions

EHTEL is honoured to be part of a new strategic initiative organised by the World Health Organization (WHO). Our involvement enables EHTEL to share our expertise in managing innovation and working with implementers. It also opens up a host of potential opportunities and synergies to get involved in ongoing European projects. Today’s focus is on the mental health status of the health and care workforce. But there is a major bigger picture at stake, involving many new and ongoing digital directions outlined by the European Union (EU).
