Personalised rehabilitation, better continuity of care, and a better quality of life are phenomenally important issues for Europe’s patients. This is why the vCare project aims to provide a smart coaching solution grounded in the logic of personalised care pathways, by using virtual coaching activities to assist rehabilitation in elderly people.
On the first day of the event, vCare will showcase how this ambitious proposition to use a virtual coach for rehabilitation was built, how it evolved along the project lifetime, what are the expected results and how it plans to connect to the wider @Home ecosystem.
An agreement has already been reached in the vCare consortium to guarantee the maintenance of the vCare system after the end of the project. Therefore, a number of solution providers for the rehabilitation market, like Rehab Guru, Axomove, Captain Coach and Incasa, will participate in the event, and unveil the key success factors needed today for an innovation to locate its market. Together with them, the vCare consortium will look at the project's short- and medium-term prospects, and consider the consequences of the evolution of the current legal framework and possible business cases.
Representatives from EU-funded projects like e-VITA, SHAPES, PASSION-HF, PROCARE4LIFE will also join the conversation.
All attendees, both present on site or connected virtually will have the opportunity to interact with the speakers and the audience.

The second day of the open event will be organised as a hybrid event. The focus will be a debate around LIFEBOTS Exchange: a Research and Innovation Staff Exchange (RISE) project, focused on facilitating exchanges of people and personnel around Europe, with the goal of creating a better understanding of the use of social robots in medical practice care, residential care, and family care.
The workshop plays a role in connecting together virtual coaching, physical coaching, the use of social robots, and the wider health data and digital health ecosystem(s).
The workshop will focus on human-machine interaction (HMI): what is common to all human-machine interaction initiatives/projects, and what are their outcomes and consequences. Most practically, it emphasises what works well – physical interaction, virtual interaction, or a mix of both.
The conditions for effective deployment of Artificial Intelligence, serious games coaching, and the pros and cons of virtual versus physical coaches will be the main debated topics.
