Platforms are really coming to the fore. The Smart & Healthy Ageing through People Engaging in Supportive Systems (SHAPES) is an innovation action. Its aim is to build, pilot and deploy a large-scale, Europe-wide standardised open platform.
SHAPES open calls provide opportunities for innovative organisations to integrate their solutions into a large ecosystem at European level. They will promote innovation by identifying challenges in SHAPES pilot sites. They invite SMEs and eligible European organisations to meet these challenges with innovative solutions. The idea is to integrate them into the SHAPES Platform in order to support active and healthy ageing and independent living.
Among the calls are topics such as:
- Smart connectives for health and well-being.
- Speech-enabled chatbots.
Among potentially eligible submitters are:
- European industries, SMEs, start-ups, universities, research and technology centres.
- Participants that are legally registered in a Member State of the European Union or in a Horizon 2020 associated country.
Integrating a broad range of technological, organisational, clinical, educational and societal solutions will facilitate long-term healthy and active ageing and the maintenance of a high-quality standard of life. There are many possible benefits. Mediated by technology, in-home and local community environments interact with health and care networks to add to the reduction of health and care costs, hospitalisation, and institutional care.
