What is SCIROCCO Exchange?
SCIROCCO Exchange is a community of people that has emerged from the SCIROCCO Exchange project (www.sciroccoexchange.com). The project has supported large numbers of health and social care authorities in the adoption and scaling-up of integrated care through a unique tool.
SCIROCCO Exchange developed a refined and tested model. It is supported by a validated online self-assessment tool for integrated care. To view the tool follow this link.
The project’s ambition was to maximise the value and impact of the SCIROCCO tool for European regions and organisations involved in the deployment of integrated care. By 2022, it has more than succeeded in this ambition. It has been used in nations as well as regions. It has been used throughout the globe.
The community built its results directly out of the achievements of the European Innovation Partnership on Active and Healthy Ageing B3 Action Group on Integrated Care (which first developed the concept of the B3 Maturity Model). Its origins were in the activities of the European Union’s Health Programme-funded project SCIROCCO (www.scirocco-project.eu).
What is Europe’s Resilience and Recovery Facility?
The European Resilience and Recovery Facility (RRF) is the centrepiece of Europe’s recovery plan – it covers a five-year period from 2021-2026. It aims to help Europeans focus on a positive recovery following the aftermath and effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. The European resilience and recovery plan aims to make Europe’s economies and societies more sustainable, resilient, and better prepared for the opportunities and challenges that underpin the digital transition and a green transitions. A total of more than 700 billion euros is being made available to Europe’s Member States through a mix of grants and loans. Today’s calculations show that digital health is benefitting from around a quarter (25%) of the investment of RRF funding.
Each of the European Member States is responsible for its own resilience and recovery plan – with its distinct targets and milestones. Each country makes a regular country report on its progress made, for example, in May 2022. Member States are encouraged to focus on areas in six pillars. Two of these pillars are: digital transformation, and health, economic, social and institutional resilience. The regions in all the countries help to support the individual country’s plans.
